A ride-sharing app grew its user base over 50% in three months with more than 80,000 installs.

The app competes with global taxi brands in Eastern Europe. When PUSH started, the mayor of the region had announced that all taxi apps would be banned over local tax issues.

The results

The first three months, and a two-week burst of activity before the final mayoral debate.

  • +50%App base in the first three months, with more than 80,000 installsA ride-sharing app
  • 11.5 millionImpressions in a two-week campaign, with over 5,000 installsA ride-sharing app

The challenge.

As a local taxpayer the app was exempt from the proposed ban but caught up in the bad press around taxi apps. It needed as many installs as the budget allowed, with users who kept using it, more drivers on the platform, and a better image for Romanian taxi drivers.

What PUSH did.

PUSH researched each county against national population statistics and used Search and Universal App Campaigns to reassure people that the brand could be trusted. Scripts boosted promotion in rush hours and at weekends, and offers such as free rides were matched to rush hour, weekends and religious holidays.

PUSH tracked the different actions users took in the app and sorted them into low, mid and high priorities, then built campaigns for each tier. People who had installed but not paid saw offers such as "First Ride Free".
